Bow Tutorial #2 - Anime/Manga Bow!

Part 1: [link]

I get a lot of people asking me how to make things, so I figured I would make some tutorials on how to do the basic pieces of a Sailor Senshi costume. Halloween is just around the corner, so get your needles and start sewing! :D

I made these tutorials (or at least tried to) for those that have little to no sewing experience. Obviously if you have some sewing experience, they seem slow and somewhat redundant.

Forgive my desk. I've had it forever, and you can blatantly tell it's a craft table. Lol.

This is the bow I use for Anime and manga style bows. Sailor Senshi bows. I'm sure there are plenty of other ways to make this (like just using a bow-shaped pattern), but this is how I learned to make it, so I figured I'd do it this way. Once you get your bow sized right, you can use Step 10 as a pattern for future bows, and save yourself the extra steps.

A note about interfacing: I assumed you would have fusible interfacing in this tutorial. Fusible interfacing has a shiny side that sticks to the fabric when you iron it. Non-fusible interfacing has to be sewn on. (My first pack of interfacing was non-fusible, and I was very confused when I tried to iron it.) If you have non-fusible, you can still use this tutorial, you will just have to stitch the pieces together, instead of ironing. If you have to stitch them together, stitch them close to the edge, so that you wont be able to tell when it's finished.

I recommend using a medium weight interfacing. Light wont hold your bow very well, and heavy is too stiff. (I used heavy in this tutorial because it was all I had.)

This would work great as a tut for making a head-eater bow for a lolita co-ord. Just saying.
